A journey into the ancestral flavors of Sardinia, in the ancient heart of Alghero.
A story of stone, passion and signature cuisine.
OUR
STORY
Al Tuguri was born in the beating heart of Alghero's historic center, nestled within the ancient walls of the old city, in a 17th-century building that retains all its magic. Since 1973 it has been one of the city's most iconic restaurants, becoming over the years a reference point for those seeking authenticity, atmosphere and quality cuisine.
The name “Tuguri” - reminiscent of ancient rustic dwellings - encapsulates the soul of the restaurant: a cozy, warm and intimate place, where the living stone of the walls and the multi-level rooms are reminiscent of a mythological refuge, almost an alcove for taste and the senses. Each floor of the restaurant offers a different suggestion, culminating in the terrace overlooking the rooftops of Alghero, from which one can breathe in the history of the Catalan Sardinian city.
Today, under new management led by chef-owner Francesco Pais, Al Tuguri is being renovated while respecting its original soul. The passion for cuisine and the local area lives on in a project that blends tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation.

OUR
KITCHEN
Al Tuguri's cuisine is a journey into the flavors of Sardinia and, in particular, the Alghero tradition.
It is a cuisine of sea and land, simple and refined, that puts the raw material at the center: each dish is created from the catch of the day, carefully chosen from the boats returning to the port of Alghero, and from 0-km ingredients, from small local farms or from our biodynamic garden.
Traditional Alghero dishes, such as lobster Catalan style, first and second courses made with local fish or meat, which are interpreted in a contemporary way, respecting the authenticity of the flavors but enriching them with a modern and creative sensibility.
Every preparation is essential, without excess, to leave room for the true flavors, the natural scents of the sea, the Mediterranean scrub, and our land. The goal is to offer an ancestral and primordial experience, where taste meets memory and is projected into the future.

SELECTION
WINES AND LOCAL PRODUCTS
Only select labels, only producers
who love their land as we do.
Our wine list offers a wide selection of Sardinian labels, with an emphasis on indigenous varietals such as Cannonau and Vermentino. We collaborate with small local producers to ensure the highest quality and authenticity. We also use produce from our biodynamic garden to offer fresh, seasonal dishes.

THE RESTAURANT.
Between ancient walls and fairy-tale atmospheres,
every dinner is a tale.
Interiors with authentic charm.
The interior rooms extend over multiple levels, enclosed within 17th-century stone walls and vaulted ceilings reminiscent of ancient caves, with an almost mythological allure. The soft lighting, the wood and wrought iron details, the warmth of the natural walls: each element contributes to creating an intimate, elegant, and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner or a special evening.
A gem in the heart of Alghero's historic center.
Located on Via Maiorca, among the cobbled alleys of Alghero's historic center, Ristorante Al Tuguri is a timeless venue, nestled in one of the most picturesque areas of the old town. Just steps from the famous Bastioni, and immersed in the lively atmosphere of the "Sardinian Barceloneta", the restaurant welcomes guests in a unique and charming location.
